August 2010: Now that the warm weather is upon us, The Embankment, Bedford, has put together the perfect formula for a stress free family day out.

Located in the heart of Bedford, the historic half timbered inn enjoys a stunning vantage point over the River Great Ouse. And with its new gourmet picnic menu, the glorious gardens are the perfect setting to sit in the sun and gaze out over the hustle and bustle of life on the river.

Now, you can create your very own fresh hamper packed full of scrumptious things to eat, either when you arrive or in advance. All you have to do is stroll over to the picturesque Embankment gardens, drink in hand, whilst your mouth-watering alfresco meal is made up for you. They will even throw in a rug for you to sit on!

So whether you are looking for a family day out with a difference or simply want to while away the hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon, why not make a date to visit The Embankment this summer?

There are three different picnics to choose from on the new menu, each with fresh homemade fare on either a vegetarian, meat or fish theme. Crisp salads, home-made quiches and freshly-baked baguettes come with a generous helping of fresh seasonal fruit, and there’s also a delicious picnic box created especially for the kids, too.
